Options:
A. Have two separate kitchens: wet and dry.
B. Have just one kitchen in the dry kitchen area.
C. Have just one kitchen in the wet kitchen area.
Option A:
Pros:
1. No need to have wall cabinets for both kitchens because there is enough storage.
2. No need to install cooker hood because cooking is performed in the wet kitchen which is small and has a big window for ventilation.
Cons:
1. Expensive to install two kitchens.
2. No suitable place to put the washing machine.
Option B:
Pros:
1. The wet kitchen area can be used as the laundry room where the washing machine is placed.
2. One kitchen concept means we do not need to move between the wet and dry kitchen when cooking.
3. Cheaper to install just one kitchen.
Cons:
1. Need to install a cooker hood which adds to the budget and means an extra appliance to clean and take care of.
2. If a cooker hood is required, it would look nicer installed within the wall cabinets so which means wall cabinets are required.
3. The refrigerator may need to be placed in the dining area since more space is required for the one kitchen.
4. I may not have the heart to do any frying or shallow frying in the one kitchen for fear of making the whole area smell of oil so defeats the point of having a kitchen for cooking.
Option C:
Cons:
1. Do not think it is workable as the area is just too small to be the ONE kitchen.
i think you guys shud ask urselves.
ReplyDelete1. Will u guys cook?
2. How often will u cook?
3. What type of cooking will u do?
Option A
ReplyDeletePros:
1. i agree. can save ur money for wall cabinets.
2. also true. install a ventilator fan that will only cost u rm120.
Cons:
1.Expensive? i don't think you'll need much installation.
2. i think still can put at one corner.
Option B
Pros:
1. yes, this looks better in the sense of interior design
2. actually dry is for preparation and wet is just for cooking. it is not such a long distance to move around and u guys can exercise a bit.
3. cheaper.
Cons:
1. this depends on what type of cooking that u'll do. maybe the dry kitchen is for cooking non oily n smoky foods while u can install a simple stove at the dry area for super "tai chow" cooking that agmr likes.
2. u don't need a cooker hood if it's like what i said in no. 1.
3. i saw a place for the fridge. u need such a "big" cooking area?
4. back to my idea in (cons:#1)
Option C
1. i think it's workable but the problem is u dun hav a washing area for ur washing machine.
a lot of aparments hav small kitchen and i've seen very nice small ones.
2. this really depends on the answers for my questions in the previous comment.
Will u really cook?
Do u really love to cook?
How often will u cook?
Is a kitchen just meant for cooking or is it a place where u "ENJOY" cooking?
i hav lots of ideas. just depends what is your priority and how you want your new house to be.
I really hope it won't turn out to be like the place u r staying now. haha...
